Fujitsu N7010 laptop with 4-inch touchscreen caught on video

The kids at Gotta Be Mobile have given the old what-for to the new Fujitsu N7010 laptop — you know, the one with the 4-inch touchscreen above the keys — and we have the video to prove it. All said, the reviewer seems pretty impressed by the thing, especially its remarkable 960 x 544 resolution. However, he did have some trouble getting it to work with Windows Journal. Since this is configured as a second monitor and not some sort of SideShow display, there are all sorts of possibilities, as long as you don’t mind a little squinting. Depending on how you work, this might be one of those devices that you never knew you needed. Video after the break.

Fujitsu LifeBook U820 gets reviewed

At $1,000, Fujitsu’s netbook-esque LifeBook U820 is nothing if not a tough sell, but NotebookReview.com seems to think that the category-defying device will appeal to at least a few folks out there, even if they are aware that they can get a similarly equipped netbook for less than half the price. As you might have guessed, they found the device’s form factor to be its biggest selling point, with them going so far as to describe it as “the smallest and most feature packed mini tablet” they’ve reviewed. They were also especially impressed with the device’s “incredible” battery life (over eight hours in “balanced” mode), and its overall build quality, which certainly seems to be a step above your average netbook or mini tablet. On the downside, it is still basically an average Atom-powered netbook on the inside, which is easy to accept at $300-$500, but a whole other matter when you hit four digits.

Poop Frisbee Will Let You Win at Ultimate Frisbee Every Time [Frisbee]

When your opponent sees a frisbee sailing in their direction with a dollop of poop on top, they will let it pass, and you will win. That’s the plan, anyway. [Nerd Approved]

SlingPlayer For BlackBerry Launching in Public Beta Before Next Year, Just [Sling]

SlingPlayer for BlackBerry, which was previewed in a usable state nearly a year ago, is finally coming to BlackBerry in a public beta.

The player will run on most BlackBerry phones, with the notable exception of the Storm, which it seems would be best suited for such purposes. According to the company, the app will run straight away and without caveat on the BlackBerry Bold, Curve 8900, 8820, Curve 8320, Pearl Flip 8220, and Pearl 8120, assuming they are updated to OS 4.5.

Beyond that, Sling says that the program may run fine on a variety of other OS 4.5 EDGE-only handsets, though these configurations will be unsupported. If our early hands-on is any indicator, a solid EDGE connection will generally do well enough, so for all intents and purposes this release will cover most of the operational BlackBerry line. The beta will open on 12/30. [Sling]

‘Cupcake’ Roadmap Hints at What’ll Be In the Next Android Update [Android]

Hidden among a slew of bugfixes and refinements announced in a posting on the Android project site are a few serious feature upgrades, which could make their way to your G1 fairly soon.

The most practical update may be to the camera functions, which have finally expanded to include video recording. The browser gets a hefty refresh as well, with an inline find function and creatively implemented selective copy and paste, as well as quite a few under-the-hood speed enhancements.

Some of the other updates are a bit more forward-looking, and clearly not focused on the G1. There’ll be a framework put in place to allow for simple system-wide on-screen input (read: touch keyboards) and as our tipster pointed out, the mysterious and tantalizing inclusion of “Basic x86 support.”

Being that this development isn’t coming from a hardware manufacturer, x86 support doesn’t indicate that a particular new gadget will be adopting the OS, but it does imply that seeing Android on a rich variety of gadgets, including some in unexpected form factors, isn’t out of the question. Check the full feature list at the source link. [AndroidThanks, Ben]

Spirit of St. Louis Aerial Clock Radio Is Beautiful 1920s Nostalgia [Clocks]

It really is stunning. The time is displayed across four separate digital windows, like an altometer. I wish they stripped out the radio to make it even more essential. [Verdict via Chipchick via BBG]

Robot Porn Film Is Industrialpunkish Kama Sutra (NSFW) [NSFW Robosex]

Underwire’s Annaliza Savage has published an intriguing video on The Sex Life of Robots, which shows animated bots made out of modified Barbie dolls and G.I. Joes doing naughty naughty things in gritty robot land.

Note: I know that many won’t consider dolls having sex NSFW—I don’t—but in case you are a prude version of Bender, be aware that this contains explicit material.

The movie seems weird, sexy yet disturbing. For sure, it’s beautifully made by Michael Sullivan, using stop-motion animation and digital photography. If you are in New York, you can go and see the dolls used in the production, as well as clips from the film at the Museum of Sex in Manhattan. [Underwire]

This Cup Is Not Covered With Ants [Kitchen]

It may look gross, but this cup and saucer set is not covered with ants.

Available now on Etsy (there’s supposedly one in stock, but these things can generally be back ordered), this coffee/tea set is a nasty way to welcome a guest, or a warm greeting to the occasional ant eater who may live next door. I know that sounded ridiculous, but how great would it be to have an ant eater next door? It’s like the next best thing to living next door to a champion body builder who will reluctantly help you move in exchange for you not mocking his deeply guarded self image issues.
