HTC spy shot reveals handful of new phones

Apparently, HTC is having a little trouble keeping people with cameras out of its offices, as evidenced by this totally great spy shot of a what appears to be a bunch of (or two) new phones. We’re familiar with quite of few of these devices, like the TyTn II, Touch Cruise, and Touch you see in the upper row, but things get a little stickier down below. Save for that P3470 that’s second from left, we have no clue what those slick looking square numbers are. The far left model and the far right might be the same device, but its hard to tell. It also looks like all the devices in this picture are using Windows Mobile, but we’re holding out hope that maybe the model on the far right boots Android… and soon.

Update: So we figure that one of the two on the right is likely the MDA compact IV for T-Mobile, although that still doesn’t explain the generous QWERTY board depicted over there on the left. Can’t you just feel the excitement building? Thanks, Marios!

ASUS replacing Eee PC 900 batteries with longer lasting versions

Attaboy, ASUS. Not even 24-hours after reports starting flooding in over end users receiving less capacious Eee PC batteries in Hong Kong than expected, the firm is stepping up and doing the right thing. According to an admittedly rough translation of a statement on its website, ASUS is openly thanking its supporters for their business, and while it seems as though it’s still chalking the whole mishap up as a simple mistake, every single Hong Kong-based customer will be receiving a free (5800mAh) replacement. ‘Tis a shame we’ll likely still be griping over the battery life.

Though certainly not the first gizmo designed with aerial photography in mind, the Aeryon Scout is a notch above most alternatives. The hovering platform enables users to capture still shots and log digital video from up above, and while it can be controlled remotely, we’re also hearing that autonomous navigation isn’t totally out of reach. Currently, the device is still looking to escape the prototype stage, but its creators are already eying police forces, security firms and surveying / engineering businesses in hopes of landing a few clients. Considering the stunningly high $30,000 to $50,000 price tag, we’d say they’re looking in the right (read: only) direction.

HP iPAQ 900 series smartphone hits the FCC

HP’s iPAQ 900 series smartphones haven’t exactly had the smoothest of releases (’round these parts at least) since they were first announced way back in September of last year, but one of ‘em has at least managed to recently trickle out into the hands of the lucky folks at the FCC, which could possibly indicate that it’s actually nearing a US release. In case you missed it, the Windows Mobile-based phone was previously hinted as coming to AT&T in its iPAQ 910 incarnation, although the FCC unsurprisingly doesn’t have anything to say about that possibility.
